What a wonderful book, I have enjoyed it thoroughly. The happiness it brought me is immeasurable. Loved it!
Read an abridged version in grade school and couldn't remember details. What a super choice to discover again! Great narration, timeless story. Great for taking the dullness from commuting.
My OH my! This was by far the most influential book I have ever, will ever, read. Not only is this a beautiful romance, but an intese thriller. This is a definate MUST read!! Even after 17 disks, I was still sad to see the book end.
This is one of my favorites. I love the old English classics. Although it was 16 discs, I never tired of listening. The narrator, Susan Ericksen, seemed to capture all the characters except for Mr. Rochester. She was adequate with him, however her reading made him seem wooden, instead of brooding and mysterious. Yet, she did seem to find his essence at the end of the novel. She was quite easy to understand and gave life to the characters. The next time I listen though, I would like to give the narrator, Amanda Root, a try.
A classic, of course, and the writing is wonderful. I'll admit that by the time I reached CD 17, I was ready for it to be finished, but this was a worthwhile read.
Charlotte Bronte (1816-1855) was from an English family that produced three novelists: herself, Emily, and Anne. Besides Jane Eyre, her best known work is Wuthering Heights, also available from Brilliance Audio.
