I just finished the series of books. I love the fellow that reads. He does a great job so many charcters and voices keeps it ionteresting. However: The whole series turned out to be a great disappointment to me. The characters are intriguing and it was fiun to follow them and I became invested in good things coming about for them. Then one by one they were killed off and the actual point to the story by-passed me. Right now I feel I have wasted many many hours of time listening to a foul language, nasty, excessively violent work that had no end and and no unltimate outcome. I won't be listening top any more of this authors stories.

If I don't like the beginning of a book, I try to give it a chance to develop. Because this one was so long, I went through the 6th disc and still had no idea what the plot was going to be. Life is too short to waste time on something that may turn out to be good or may not. I gave up and sent it back.

I have read severaql less-than-appreciative reviews of both "A Feast For Crows" and "A Dance With Dragons". As someone who fancies herself somewhat knowledgeable about literature, I have no idea where these criticisms come from. Full disclosure; I am not a big fan of fantasy, particularly the kind that drags on forever. That said, if anything, that would make me even more critical of George R.R. Martin's opus. Instead, he has created a rich, detailed, realistic (the characters speak and act completely realistically) and totally engrossing story that evolves from book to book. This installment is no different. It is expanding, adding lands, characters and going back to familiar characters. I cannot wait to see what happens next. The narrator (who lost his way with a few characters in the previous book) has found his footing again. Just wonderful. The day Mr. Martin ends the series will be a sad day, indeed.
