"If Mama were here, everything would still be right. Or at least not as bad wrong as it had become. But Mama was dead, and Papa was gone, her brother and sisters scattered. And she was here…."—from the book

Mary Bridget Washburn was tired of running, tired of being haunted by the empty shell her life had become. How in the world had the little girl she'd once been become a woman on the wrong side of the law?

In this powerful story of redemption and love, a prodigal young woman from the hills of Virginia flees the men who have hired her away from a godly upbringing into a life of desperation. Taking on a new identity, Mary Bridget Washburn escapes to the bustling city of Alexandria, Virginia. There her path crosses that of Alasdair MacPherson, a widowed pastor with three young children and daunting problems of his own. Mary Bridget longs to bring happiness to the deeply troubled family, but she seems an unlikely candidate to help. Has she fallen too far from grace to be able to pass it on?

This book is a heart-tugging tale about the extraordinary struggles that turn ordinary people into heroes.

What a beautiful story! A great tale of redemption taking the heroine from a life of depravity to forgiveness and restoration with a nice ending.
