This book was OK. It made me want to try the diet. Howevere, the author gloats way too much. She thinks she's made this incredible discovery that will save the world. She does a bad job at addressing problems with the diet such as what if both spouses don't agree to do it? What if one spouse travels a lot?
The abridged version is missing the most important part of the book, the spices.
I'd agree with other reviewers - listening to the abridged version is really a waste of time. I also found the author's voice a bit annoying after a while - while she might have a point, didn't find the idea of more sex = a happier relationship to be that novel. Would not recommend.
I too was disappointed about the missing secret spices, etc. but it is an abridged book. I think the author gets a little carried away with her excitement and that made me a little uncomfortable at times - however, the advice was helpful in my marriage. My husband didn't laugh when I suggested he listen to the audiobook and it has actually made us both open up about what we want in our relationship. I actually bought the printed book so I can find out what the "secret spices" are. This book was very interesting to me.
I understand the meaning of abridged, but why leave out the entire meat of this book and the "incredible" keys to this so called sex diet. What a disappointment.
I love the JUST DO IT approach offered by Laura Corn. Talk is cheap. Action is golden. Too bad I have no idea what secret spices she was talking about the entire time. I guess you're required to use your own imagination on that as well.
Author's voice was a little over the top and became annoying. After listening to 3 CD's worth of promised improvements to your own relationship if you only follow the program you realize there's no program to follow! The promised enclosures aren't there. And if I ever hear the expression "blown away" again I'll scream. Sorry we wasted our time! (You're required to pick at least 1 start to complete the review. I really wouldn't even pick one otherwise.)
Without the menus she is speaking of, this CD is a waste. Who wouldn't be happier if they were getting some 4 times a week? This is a breakthrough? I thought we would hear the information first hand as well, instead you got the author saying how when the couple had more sex, they were happier. Who would've guessed that? - skip it.
Laura Corn speaks very candidly about sexual relationships, and especially emphasizes the importance of scheduling and make time for intimacy.
I agree with the other reviews: 1) Author is very annoying 2) And her secret "spices" or sex ideas are never revealed (there must be a list of ideas enclosed when you buy the audio or book). To save you three painful hours, all she says is: 1) Have sex 4 times a week for a month 2) Each partner must initiate 2 times/week and 3) Try her mysterious "spice" ideas. Needless to say my wife of 11 years laughed at me!
